제목 Catalytic Fractionation of Woody Biomass over Highly-Dispersed Pd on N-doped Carbon Catalysts
초록 The reductive catalytic fractionation (RCF) of lignocellulosic biomass has been developed to fractionate high-yield lignin-derived phenolic monomers (LDPMs) and holocellulose-rich solids. Catalyst plays a crucial role to determine the performance of the RCF. Herein, we demonstrated low Pd loaded on N doped carbon (CNx) support catalysts. The LDPMs yield and delignified holocellulose recovery of 52.7 C% and 84.2 wt% were achieved from birchwood, respectively, over 0.25 wt % Pd loaded on CNx at 250 °C and a H2 pressure of 3 MPa for 3 h. The presence of Pd nanoclusters and single Pd atoms, which were stabilized on the N-doped carbon support, increase the efficiency of the Pd0.25/CNx. Pd0.25/CNx catalyst dominantly produced 4-propyl guaiacol/syringol, because of activated hydrogenolysis and double-bond saturation guaiacol/syringol. The plausible reaction pathways for the production of different types of phenolic monomers were discussed using density functional theory calculations.
