Enhanced Photoelectrochemical Water Splitting Performance of TiO2 Nanorod Arrays: A Synergistic Influence of Non-metal Doping and Earth-Abundant CZTS NPs Sensitization |
초록 |
In this work, we report the rational design and fabrication of earth-abundant, visible-light absorbing Cu2ZnSnS4 (CZTS) nanoparticles (NPs)-sensitized S-doped TiO2 nanorods (TNRs) for high-efficiency solar water splitting. The effectiveness of different strategies such as doping of non-metals and sensitization of narrow band gap semiconductor QDs to enhance the PEC performance of TNRs have been demonstrated. A highly ordered 1D TNRs have been prepared using simple and cost-effective hydrothermal method. Both the different strategies mentioned above have shown to improve the optical properties and PCE performance of TNRs in the visible region. In the first strategy, the influence of S doping by simply annealing the TNRs in the H2S atmosphere at different temperatures ranging from 400 to 500 oC in the interval of 50 oC has been studied. Furthermore, the synergistic influence of S-doping and earth-abundant CZTS NPs sensitization onto TNRs have been investigated. A detailed study reveals that the synergistic effect of S-doping and CZTS NPs sensitization and enhanced the PEC performance by simultaneously increasing visible light absorption and interfacial charge transfer. The obtained results in the present work reveals the importance of designing and manipulating the energy band alignment in the composite nanomaterials for improving the charge transfer and thereby PEC performance of TNRs. |
