Electrically responsive polypyrrole thin film Gumhye Jeon, Seung Yun Yang, Jinseok Byun, Jin Kon Kim* Department of Chemical Engineering and Environmental Science & Engineering Pohang University of Science and Technology, Pohang, Kyungbuk 790-784, Korea Porous conjugated polymers exhibiting volume change under electrical field have been used for chemical or bio-sensors, super-capacitors and actuators. However, mostly these studies are carried out in centimeter to micrometer scales. In this study, we first prepared polypyrrole (PPy) films by using electropolymerization on titanium oxide-coated silicon substrate. Then, anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) template was placed on the top of the PPy film. Finally, nanometer-sized cylindrical pores were prepared by using Reactive Ion Etching (RIE) followed by removing AAO templates. We found that pore sizes are changed with applied voltage.
