Boosting Photocatalytic and Photoelectrochemical Performances of Fe/Sn co-doped TiO2 Nanofibers: Band engineering insight |

Transition metal dopants have been employed to decrease the band gap energy of TiO2 for visible-light-driven photocatalysis. This study reports the synthesis of Fe/Sn co-doped TiO2 (FS-TiO2) nanofibers and their supreme photocatalytic and photoelectrochemical activities under visible-light irradiation. The synthesized structure displayed a narrow band gap of 2.44 eV, suggesting their availability as a robust visible-light-driven photocatalyst for degradation of tetracycline (TC). In addition, FS-TiO2 exhibited a catalytic activity that was about 2 and 20 times higher than that of un-doped TiO2 and blank samples, respectively. Photoelectrochemical results demonstrated that the FS-TiO2 had more effective charge separation and transportation from valance band to the conduction band than the compared with its counterparts. Moreover, the kinetic analysis demonstrated that the degradation of TC follows the Langmuir–Hinshelwood kinetic model. |
