Membrane assisted biological hydrogen methanation systems for biogas upgrading |
초록 |
Biogas produced from the anaerobic digestion (AD) process is an attractive energy source with the potential to replace at least part of natural gas. However, the biogas produced in the standard AD system has 55~65% of methane gas and requires an upgrading process to meet the sufficient concentration for further usage. The biological hydrogen methanation by hydrogenotrophic methanogens is a promising technic to convert CO2 to methane gas and fulfill the requirements for biogas quality and carbon dioxide release. We were proposed a membrane contactor for increasing mass transfer rate of hydrogen. A silicone hollow fiber membrane is connected to the reactor and both gas and sludge are circulating between the reactor and membrane. This method provides more sufficient contact of cells and gas and allows to increase the efficiency of conversion of CO2 to methane. The final concentration of methane in upgraded biogas reached >95%, with a stable performance of that result. |
