Poly(butylene adipate-co-terephthalate) (PBAT) which contains aliphatic hydrocarbons and aromatic hydrocarbons was a developed bioplastic to take all the advantages of aliphatic and aromatic polyesters. Since it is not degraded well compared to other bioplastics such as PHB, research on degradation by single microorganism is insufficient. Among the six kinds of microorganisms that can degrade PBAT in the solid culture, Bacillus sp. JY35 with good degradability was selected. Degrading activity was measured by cultivating with PBAT film in the liquid culture. GC-MS analysis was used for calculating weight loss. In addition, SEM and FE-SEM analysis showed surface changes during degradation. Finally, clear zones were observed on all the MB plates containing various kinds of bioplastics, suggesting that this strain has broad degrading ability. |
