Purification and debundling of SWCNT via Supercritical Fluid Treatments |

Single-walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT) was treated with Carbon dioxide supercriticalfluids (CO2-SCF) containing surfactant solution. Compared to the untreatedone, SCF-treated SWCNT was easily dispersed in an aqueous surfactant solution withoutobvious damage by gentle ultrasonication. We found that lots of metal impurity wasremoved by the treatments confirmed by SEM, EDX and TGA analysis. Metallic andsemiconducting components of SWCNT were found to be effectively separated usinga gel chromatography. It noted that SWCNT are more debundled after the SCFtreatment. Metallic and semiconducting components were quantitatively analyzedusing Near-IR spectroscopy along with Raman spectroscopy. |
