제목 Encapsulating Astaxanthin with ß-Cyclodextrin using Supercritical Antisolvent Process
초록 Astaxanthinis a type of carotenoid which has strong antioxidant properties and otherhealth benefits. Encapsulation is one of the methods to enhance the water solubilityand stability of astaxanthin. ß-cyclodextrin is chosen as the encapsulationmaterial due to its structure and bioavailability. Supercritical antisolvent(SAS) process utilizes carbon dioxide (CO2) in the supercriticalphase as the antisolvent. SAS process produces powder by precipitating theencapsulated astaxanthin without additional step to remove the solvent. In thisstudy, the effects of temperature, pressure, solution concentration, andsolution flow rate on the encapsulation yield and particle morphology of theprecipitates are analyzed. Encapsulation formation and thermal properties of theencapsulated astaxanthin are also analyzed.
