New electron donor-acceptor conjugated polymers composed of electron-deficient groups, 2-{4-[4,6-bis-(4-hexyl-thiophen-2-yl)-pyrimidin-2-yl]-phenyl}-thiazolo[5,4-b]pyridine (pPTP) were synthesized for organic solar cells. These polymers (pPTPBDT-12, pPTPBDT-EH, pPTPBDTT-EH and pPTPTTI) consist of benzo[1,2-b;3,4-b']dithiophene (BDT), or 4,8-bis(5-thiophen-2-yl)benzo[1,2-b:4,5-b']dithiophene (BDTT), or 6-(2-thienyl)-4H-thieno[3,2-b]indole (TTI) as electron donor groups and pPTP as electron acceptor groups were designed. The pPTP as a strong electron-withdrawing group was included at the para position of the pyrimidine backbone. The device composed of pPTPTTI and PC71BM (1:1) with 3% CN additive showed a VOC of 0.83 V, a JSC of 4.41 mA/cm2, and a fill factor (FF) of 0.31, giving a power conversion efficiency of 1.13%. |
