Herein, we report a facile and scalable pathway to transform the waste polyethylene terephthalate (PET) scraps and biochar obtained from waste onion peels into a monolithic porous foams (PMS). The as obtained foams had highly interconnected pore structure low apparent density, excellent wettability, poor conductivity, and good light adsorption ability. Under one sun radiation PMS foam delivered a water evaporation rate of 1.5 Kgm-2h-1 corresponding to a solar-vapor generation efficiency of 85%. PMS foam also exhibited excellent performance for purification of sea water, wastewater, and oil water mixture. Moreover, PMS foam showed excellent stability with very little change in steam generation efficiency after 20 cycles. |
