제목 Effect of Temperature on Preparation of Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene with Ziegler-Natta Catalyst
초록 Ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) is a linear polyethylene with molecular weights over 1.0×106 and known as high modulus PE or high performance PE. In order to prepare UHMWPE, the polymerization of ethylene was carried out with various Ziegler-Natta catalysts activated with triethylaluminum cocatalyst under mild conditions. The effects of catalyst structure and temperature on catalyst activity, melting temperature, crystallinity and molecular weight of PE were investigated. It was found that the catalyst components and polymerization temperature strongly affected the catalytic activity and molecular weight of UHMWPE. The viscosity average molecular weight of obtained PE was in the range from 0.5×106 to 5.5×106.
