The kinetics of the reaction between CO2 and aqueous sodium salts of glycine and plant extracts was measured at 298 K in a stirred-cell reactor. For non-aqueous sodium glycine solution, the temperature effect on the reaction kinetics and absorption rate of carbon dioxide into aqueous alkanol amine absorbent (over 10 wt%) was measured in the temperature range from 298K to 343K using a stirred-cell reactor. The reaction rate constant was correlated with the Arrehnius equation and the activation energy was 61.42 kJ/mol. CO2 absorption rate into modified alkanolamine absorbent was also investigated. For the modified alkanolamine absorbent, 0.1N glycine and 0.1 N NaOH were used as additives and the CO2 absorption rate increased by adding 10 wt% of the amine addtive. In the case of AMP additive, the absorption rate enhanced by about 80%. |
