Anti-Static coating is used to decrease or prevent a static-electrical charge because accumulation of electrostatic charge can cause undesirable contamination by dust and malfunctions of electronic components. In this study, UV curable antistatic coating materials was prepared by the incorporation of fluorinated ionic liquid or quarternary ammonium salts having a perfluoroalkyl group as antistatic agents into an urethane acrylic resin. The surface resistivity, surface chemical composition and thermomechanical properties of the cured PU films containing the ionic salts were investigated by 4-probe meter, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS) and dynamic mechanical analysis, respectively. It was revealed that addition of small amount of the fluorinated ionic salts led to effective reduction in surface resistivity due to their strong surface enrichment, as confirmed by XPS. Influence of the additives on photocure behavior of the urethane acrylate was also evaluated by photo-DSC.
