Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(4-styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) has widely been used as a representative conducting polymer for its high conductivity and water dispersibility. However, problems due to its acidity, hygroscopic nature and low solubility are still big issues to be solved. In this study, new self-doped PEDOT derivativative P1 was designed and synthesized. Since P1 is a homo-polymer, the degree of polymerization can be controlled, and thus, electrical properties of P1 can also be adjusted readily. Sheet resistance and electrical conductivity were measured and the results were comparable to those of commercial PEDOT:PSS. Due to its tunable electrical properties and solubility in various organic solvents, P1 can be a novel candidate for various applications such as electrode, hole-transport-layer (HTL) and antistatic-coating. |
