제목 Glass Transition Behavior of PS Films on Grafted PS Substrates
초록 Different from bulk polymer, the transition behavior of thin polymer films can be influenced by interfacial interactions, which influence at both the substrate/polymer and polymer/air. For polymer chains on the brushes of the same chemical identity, this behavior (termed “autophobic dewetting”) can be attributed to the entropic effects of the matrix polymer and the grafted polymer chains. In this study, we investigated t the glass transition behavior of polystyrene (PS) films on grafted PS layer of the same chemical identity as a function of film thickness. To control the interfacial interaction (or grafting density) between substrate and polymer, we changed the molecular weight of hydroxyl-terminated polystyrene (HO-PS) brush, which is grafted on top of the substrate. We will discuss the change of the glass transition temperature of polymer films in term of interfacial energy and adapting the percolation model.
