Engineering of Chiral Microstructures in Micro and Nanoscales via Asymmetric Mechanical Instability |
초록 |
Chiral materials possess mirrored geometries that are lack of translation and rotation symmetry in 3-dimensional spaces. Preparations of such chiral materials have been realized via advanced lithography techniques with complicated processes. Here we present facile routes to fabricate 3D chiral structures in micro and nanoscales with controllable geometries without use of any lithography or intrinsic chiral biomaterials. We utilized mechanical instability to introduce assembly of micro or nanostructures in thin film structures. Twisting or biaxial stretching were applied to direct pattern morphologies. Artificial chiral materials have a great potential to be applied in advanced applications such as optical and biomedical devices. |
