Synthesis of novolac-coated superabsorbent polymer (SAP) for antibacterial property |
초록 |
Superabsorbent polymer (SAP) is widely used in sanitary area, due to high water-absorbent property of the polymer. Despite of the application area of SAP, SAP hardly show antibacterial property, which is essential for hygiene. In this research, antibacterial novolacs were synthesized from cardanol, cashew nut shell liquid (CNSL), nonylphenol (NP), and 3-pentadecylphenol (PDP) and characterized via NMR and water contact angle. Subsequently, the novolacs were coated on SAP, which was confirmed by IR. The water uptake and antibacterial test showed that the coated SAP exhibited high antibacterial property without notable decrease in water absorbance. |
