Due to its low cost and availability, lignocellulosic biomass is a highly potential renewable materials. The bio-oil from pyrolysis of biomass has high content of oxygen, more acidic compounds and low heating value. Thus, it requires the upgrading processes of bio-oil to get high-quality bio-oil. In this study, we compared the product distribution from catalytic upgrading of furfural over ZSM-5 with a different particle size (average particle size; about 0.3mm, 3.2mm). The experiment were conducted in a continuous plug flow reactor at atmosphere pressure during 20 minutes, in a temperature range of 400 to 600℃. The conversion of furfural to furan, mono-rings, PAHs in main liquid products, and olefins, CO, CO2 in gas products was clearly differed with particle size. |
