제목 | A novel closed loop process for recycling spent LIB using electro-electrodialysis |
초록 | Metal extraction from the spent lithium-ion battery (LIB) can has significant environmental benefits. For recycling the spent LIB, the hydrometallurgical process is prevailed because of its simplicity and high recovery efficiency. However, excessive use of chemicals has raised concerns about operating costs and disposal of residues. Thus, closed-loop recycling of the chemicals can save the operating costs for the chemical consumption and further purification of the residues. In this article, we propose a novel closed-loop recycling process as following sub-systems: leaching spent anode material, selective metal extraction, electro-electrodialysis of metal free residue. Evaluating the proposed process, sub-systems except electro-electrodialysis are simulated on process simulator Aspen. For modeling the electro-electrodialysis, the tertiary current module provided in COMSOL software is used. At commercial scale, the simulated results provides feasible economic performance compared with the conventional process which has no recycling of chemical.
