In this study, a new ITIC-based non-fullerene acceptor NFA series with PBDB-T as a donor was created. We modified the structure of the EG's thiomethyl sidechain of ITIC-based acceptors, expecting to obtain high PCE from fullerene-free organic solar cells (OSCs). The two NFAs, named IT-DSM and IT-SM, are designed to lower HOMO energy by adding thiomethyl groups to thiophene rings using weaker electron donating properties than EG's alkyl groups. As a result, the OSC efficiency with the addition of donor PBDB-T and 1,8-diiodooctane was 8.98% for PBDB-T:IT-SM and 5.65% for PBDB-T:IT-DSM. The numerical difference between the two devices is due to the difference between the charging rate FF and the short-circuit current. |
