Removal behaviors of noxious gases by cellulose-derived activated carbon fibers |

In this study, activated carbon fibers (ACF) were prepared by using a steam activation for the removal of noxious gas (NO2, SO2). The crystallite structure of the ACF was observed by X-ray diffraction. The texture properties of the ACF were studied by BET, DR, and NLDFT from N2/77K adsorption isothermal. The adsorption capacities of the ACF were measured by breakthrough experiments in the gas phase. The pore structure was dependent on the function of the activation time. The specific surface area and total pore volume of the ACF were increased with increase the activation time and were found to be increased finally to 2800 m2/g and 1.5 cm3/g, respectively. From the results, the noxious gas removal performance was markedly improved with increasing the activation time. |
