Three dimensional CFD simulation of waste plastic (SRF) gasification in 1 TPD pilot scale bubbling fluidized bed reactor |
초록 |
Utilization of degraded combustible waste plastics as a feedstock for thermochemical processes is considered more sustainable than landfilling. Solid fuels predominantly containing waste plastics, such as solid recovered fuel (SRF), can be gasified to produce a combustible gas. Bubbling fluidized bed 1 TPD pilot scale gasifier was modelled using a three-dimensional CFD model. The gas phase is described using large eddy simulation (LES) approach and solid phase was described using Multiple Particle-in-Cell (MP-PIC) method. The model integrates extended chemical kinetics model with SRF pyrolysis, gas-solid reactions, and homogeneous reactions. Unlike previous studies, kinetic chemistry model contains model compound tar cracking reactions, C1-C3 gases partial oxidation and steam reforming reaction. The simulation results were compared with gas composition from experiments conducted on a pilot scale reactor with 1 TPD, height of 5450 mm, and internal diameter of 400 mm. After validation, the effect of air-to-fuel equivalence ratio (ER) was investigated. |
