제목 Low temperature PET glycolysis​
초록 In this presentation, we will discuss a new catalytic method to depolymerize post-consumer PET into bis(2-hydroxyethyl) terephthalate(BHET). Addition of a green co-solvent to the glycolysis system facilitated catalytic conversion of PET into BHET at 153℃, which temperature is much lower than that of conventional glycolysis(>197℃). Several inexpensive metal salts or organic guanidine bases were used as effective catalysts for the low-temperature glycolysis. Under the optimal reaction conditions, PET completely decomposed within 2 h and the final yield of BHET was more than 86% at 153℃. Based on the most probable reaction steps, a kinetic model mechanistically describing the overall reaction behavior was developed.​​
