제목 Heterogeneous Rubpy Molecular Catalyst for CO2 Reduction Promoted by Surface Plasmon Resonance of Gold Nanoparticles
초록 This work introduces a CO2 reduction catalysis using a ruthenium bipyridine molecular catalyst assembled on the surface of TiO2 junctioned with a gold nanostructure. The ligand carrying phosphonate groups make the molecular catalyst successfully immobilized on highly oxophilic TiO2 surface. Light irradiation (> 400 nm) promotes hot electron generation from gold nanoparticles by surface plasmon resonance, and molecular catalyst receives the electrons to reduce CO2 into formic acid in aqueous electrolyte. Moreover, the advantage of the use of a molecular catalyst is a high selectivity (>90 % selectivity) toward a desired product. The results represent our photochemical CO2 reduction method is a sustainable and environment-friendly strategy to use solar energy in producing useful resources.
