Conducting polymer / 1D gold nanowire composites have attracted great attention because of their unique electrical and optical properties. We synthesized the regioregular polythiophene named poly(3-decyltrioxyethylenethiophene) (PD3OT) containing amphiphilic side chains and also prepared 1-D gold nanowire networks from the PD3OT / hydrogen tetrachloroaurate complex via the chemical reducing method. The structure of PD3OT could make hydrophilic channel that arrange gold salts linearly, and this generated 1D gold nanostructure. When poly(3-decylthiophene) (P3DT) was used as composite material, same composite preparation method yielded only a mixture of gold nanorods, nanospheres, and nanoparticles. These different phenomena confirm that amphiphilic side chain was a key factor to prepare 1D gold nanostructure. |
