Dual Template Strategy to Synthesize Hierarchical PorousHard Carbon for High-Performance CO2 Capture |

High content of ultra-/super-micropores and heteroatoms is a prerequisite to achieve a high-performance carbon-based solid adsorbent for CO2 capture at low pressure ranges with high selectivity. In this work, robust oxygen and nitrogen co-containing hierarchical porous hard carbons are prepared by a novel dual-templating strategy. Glucose, a molecular carbon source, is carbonized in the presence of a hydrogen-bonded melamine and cyanuric acid complex (MCA) and a eutetic mixture of lithium bromide and potassium bromide (LiBr:KBr,60:40 wt%). The MCA is used as reactive templates playing the roles of a C/N/O source and a porogen of ultra-micro-meso-macropores,while the molten salt as a liquid template to introduce super-micro-macropores.The resulting porous hard carbon materials exhibit a CO2 intake performance of 3.95mmol/g of at 278 K at 850 Torr with negligible performance degradation upon repeated use. The originfor the performance enhancement of carbon will be discussed in detail. |
