Hexagonal-BN is generally known asstable material from RT to 1000℃ at air atmosphere, and has high chemicalstability. It is, therefore, used in fields to need thermal and chemical stability, and porous structure obviously gives a variety of properties in ceramic. Inthis work, modification to porous structure can be confirmed and intentionallyobtained from h-BN by catalytic etching of TMOs below 1000℃. Catalytic etchingoccurs during calcination which can be confirmed via intersection of betweentheoretical Ellingham diagram and experimental TGA. At that temperature, TMOsmove in a specific preferred direction, and porous h-BN thereby has stuckparticles. Existence of highly dispersed TMOs in final product makes itpossible to be used as selective catalytic reduction (SCR) catalysts, one ofgreen technologies, through only single step process. We can confirm theenhanced performance of deliberately etched catalyst in both of powder andgreen-body states, honeycomb and coated type. |
