Stimulated Myoblast Differentiation on Graphene Oxide-Impregnated PLGA-Collagen Hybrid Fiber Matrices |

Electrospun matrices composed of various biomaterials have been developed for tissue engineering scaffolds because the structure of electrospun matrices is similar to that of the natural extracellular matrix (ECM). In the present study, we fabricated electrospun nanofiber matrices composed of graphene oxide (GO), poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid, PLGA) and collagen (Col). The physicochemical properties and biocompatibility of hybrid nanofiber matrices were characterized. Moreover, cellular behaviors of C2C12 mouse myoblasts on the GO-PLGA-Col hybrid nanofiber matrices were evaluated to explore their potential as tissue engineering scaffold for skeletal muscle regeneration. It was revealed that the cellular behaviors of C2C12 mouse myoblasts were significantly enhanced on the GO-PLGA-Col hybrid nanofiber matrices. Therefore, our findings suggest that the GO-PLGA-Col hybrid nanofiber matrices are beneficial to the growth and differentiation of C2C12 myoblasts and they have the potential to serve as effective skeletal tissue engineering scaffolds. |
