The characterization of Modified MoS2/SEBS composite and the surface grafted MoS2 using Silane coupling agents |

Styrene-ethylene-butylene-styrene(SEBS) is the material which kinds of Thermoplastic elastomer(TPE), have excellent properties. Molybdenum disulfide(MoS2) is the filler that has extremely low dynamic friction coefficient so that has higher abrasion resistance. SEBS/MoS2 composite improves the abrasion property compared to pristine SEBS. But the MoS2 can act to defects in the matrix due to the aggregation by Van-der-waals force. The main issue has to be dispersion of the filler in the matrix. Various silane coupling agents were grafted onto the surface of MoS2 to improve the interface interaction between SEBS and MoS2. FTIR spectroscopy was used for indicating the presence of silane coupling agent on MoS2 Surface. Specimen was prepared through internal mixer and press, and measure the mechanical properties and the abrasion properties were measured using UTM and Taber test. Moreover, the roughness was confirmed by AFM and the morphology of fractures was observed by SEM. |
