To enhance the light absorption of thin-film PVs, various light trapping schemes have been proposed. Among them, recent study showed that light absorption can be easily enhanced by laminating 1D periodic array of V-groove textured film1 on the thin-film PVs. Moreover, light trapping effect is guaranteed for a whole year by considering the annual incident angle variation within the range of ±23.5°. However, as in case of building integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) system whose annual incident angle variation ranges easily deviate from the incident angle variation within ±23.5°, light trapping effect of V-groove texturing is largely reduced. Therefore, we designed a novel light trapping structure for BIPV application. We designed blazed type texturing and verified the effectiveness for various incident angle ranges via multi-scale optical simulation and experimental results of organic photovoltaics (OPVs) devices. |
