Iron oxides play an important part in many geological and biological processes and are widespread in nature. Among them, magnetite is a mineral with the chemical formula Fe3O4 (Fe(II)[Fe(III)]2O4), which is ferrimagnetic (i.e.,can be attracted to a magnet and magnetized to become a permanent magnet) and the most magnetic of all the naturally occurring minerals on Earth. There have been efforts to develop methods of preparing anisotropic magnetite nanocrystals. Despite the progress, some reported methods did not always have outstanding control over well-defined shapes, sizes, and crystal phases. Herein, we report an improved method to synthesize ultrathin Fe3O4 nanosheets by transforming α-Fe2O3 nanocrystals controlled. As prepared Fe3O4 nanocrystals have been characterized employing various materials characterization methods. Results of structural studies on the formation of anisotropic Fe3O4 nanosheets, and the effects of reaction conditions, will be shown together in the poster. |
