Compared to organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), LECs have several potential advantages such as a single active layer, low operating voltages and solution processibility. However, unfavorable characteristics such as narrowness of the operating voltage window, the presence of electrochemical side reactions and the relatively short operational lifetimes, present obstacles to the application of LECs. In particular, the operational lifetimes of LECs are still too short. Moreover, studies regarding operational lifetime of LECs have been carried out in high vacuum or an inert box system. In order to promote the commercialization of LECs, however, it is necessary to study their operational lifetimes when they are in an encapsulated form. We report an alternative ALT method that used mathematical method for encapsulated LECs to estimate their operational lifetime. The method could predict the operational lifetime of the encapsulated LECs to within a margin of error of less than 4%. |
