제목 | Rapid methane hydrate formation in water oversaturated fixed-bed system |
초록 | Natural gas (NG) is regarded as the promising future energy source in terms of a lot of reserves and environmental friendliness. For the successful use of NG, there is a need to develop technologies to store NG on a large scale. This day, the strategy to store NG using gas hydrate has been spotlighted as economical and safe technology. Despite many advantages, there are a few challenges that impede the commercial deployment of such hydrate-based system. Relatively low formation rate is the major obstruction; thus, many researchers have tried to enhance kinetics with various methods. One of them is using porous media to secure enormous nucleation sites and gas-liquid contact area. However, the method using porous media has critical drawback that volumetric storage efficiency is quite poor due to limitation of water content in inter- or inner particle space. In this study, a water oversaturated system using surface-modified silica sand was introduced to get over such concern. |
