Pilot Scale Compact GTL Process: Design and Operation of Microchannel Fischer-Tropsch Reactor |

Pilot scale (1.0 bpd) compact GTL process is designed and operated using microchannel reactor block as the Fischer–Tropsch synthesis unit. Description of the design procedure, final design and operation result for the KOGAS-SNU collaborative 1.0 bpd compact GTL pilot plant are discussed. The performance of the reactor in terms of CO2 conversion, CH4 and C5+ selectivity and channel temperature profile are validated with both lab-scale experimental results from literature as well as model predictions from present study. The novel computer aided engineering design procedure of microchannel reactor for Fishcher Tropsch synthesis application is also systematically organized for potential use as a guideline in similar future works on pilot scale reactor model development, design and operation. Results of pilot plant operation with pre-reformer unit, tri-reformer unit, CO2 separation unit with membrane, and two types of compact FT reactor (microchannel and packed bed) is discussed to demonstrate the performance of KOGAS-SNU microchannel FT reactor. |
