Electromagnetic wave absorbing properties of permalloy composites for industrial, scientific and medical band applications |

Industrial, scientific and medical (ISM) band, 902 ~ 928 MHz, is internationally assigned for the use of RF electromagnetic fields for industrial, scientific and medical purposes rather than communications. Since the problem of electromagnetic interference (EMI) due to the ISM applications has become increasingly serious, much attention has been focused on the electromagnetic wave absorber for reducing the EMI. We have investigated the electromagnetic wave absorbing properties of composites designed on the basis of contourmap method. High values of complex permittivity and permeability are required for thin electromagnetic wave absorbers consisted of permalloy and polymer. In order to satisfy the requirement, the shape and physical properties of permalloy are controlled as a function of milling time. Using the rubber-modified polyamide composite filled with up to 92 wt.% of milled permalloy, the reflection loss of 5.58 dB can be obtained at the ISM band. |
