Photochromic compounds have attracted much attention because of their potential ability for various photoactive devices, such as optical memory system, optoelectronic circuit, display device, optic, and electro-optic component. Recently, we have designed and synthesized the tri-functional dendritic photochromic material that contains three spiropyran chromophores in a molecule to increase the thermostability for their colored species. It is help to increase the density of functional moiety in the photochromic film and provide some geometrical hindrance to the isomerization behavior of merocyanine moiety. Furthermore, we also prepared the tri-functional dendrimer bearing photosensitive chalcone as a photocrosslinkable unit. Thus, the intra- and intermolecular photocycloaddition of chalcone units in the photochromic film can induce interpentrating network, which lowers the rate of photochromic process and retard the decaying process. |
