제목 Fabrication of PDMS-based Urea-formaldehyde core/shell self-healing microcapsules embedded in Polyurethane matrix with enhanced mechanical and thermal stability
초록 Healing agents-cotained microcapsules which are mechanically and thermally stable were prepared and incorporated into a polyurethane (PU) matrix to develop self-healing skin layers of instrument panels in automobiles. In this study, two different poly(urea-formaldehyde) (PUF) microcapsules containing either a polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS)/Pt catalyst (Pt) blend or crosslinker were synthesized using in situ emulsion polymerization. Moreover, by decreasing the capsule size and depositing an additional urea-formaldehyde (UF) layer onto pre-formed PUF microcapsules, the synthesized microcapsules which were mechanically and thermally weak were greatly enhanced. After all, The two different optimized microcapsules were successfully embedded in a PU matrix and could be broken upon matrix scratching, thereby releasing the healing agent to the target areas via capillary effects. Consequently, it was confirmed that the scratched portions were repaired through chemical and/or physical interactions within the healing system.
