제목 Photo - and Rubbing-Alignable Brush-Polyimides Bearing Three Different Chromophores
초록 Three new photoreactive brush-polyimides each with a different type of chromophore have been synthesized. It was demonstrated that the polymer chains in films of these brush-polyimides are effectively aligned preferentially by both photo- and rubbing-alignment processes, and that the resulting photoaligned and rubbing-aligned films effectively induce the alignment of nematic liquid crystals (LCs) along the director of the oriented polymer chains by favorable anisotropic interactions of the oriented polymer chain segments with the LCs. These brush-polyimides are promising rubbing-free alignment layer candidates for the production of advanced LC display devices, including LC display televisions with large display areas.
