A widely used sensitive energetic material, HMX (Cyclotetramethylene tetranitramine) can be spherically coated using the less-sensitive NTO via the rapid cooling in order to modify the shape of the double layered explosive as well as to improve the explosion performance. The rapid cooling of the NTO solution with ethanol as solvent generate the rod-like NTO particle, then these particles were attached the irregular HMX surface. The coating thickness of the obtained explosive particles with the spherical shape was 10 ㎛. While the slow cooling was adopted, the agglomerated NTO particles were obtained. The mean size for the prepared double layered energetic material was ranged from 40 ㎛ to 50 ㎛. |
