제목 Effect of zinc content on functional, morphological, structural, and thermal properties of k-carrageenan/sodium carboxymethyl cellulose nanocomposites
초록 This research aims to create novel nanocomposites with properties suitable for application in biomedical research. MgO was used as a control sample in the experiment. Several Mg1-xZnxO nanoparticles with x=0.01 and 0.03 were prepared by a sol-gel method and added to carrageenan/ sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (NaCMC) to obtain MgO, Mg0.99Zn0.01O, and Mg0.97Zn0.03O/k-carrageenan/NaCMC hydrogels. The structural properties were investigated using swelling ratio %, compression test, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA), and field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM). FESEM analysis showed that doping of “Zn” in MgO strongly affects the morphology and crystallinity of MgO nanoparticles. The MgO nanocomposite showed the lowest degree of swelling. The swelling started to increase at 3.37 ± 0.95% and ended at 3.81 ± 0.26% with a peak at 22.1 ± 6.76% in the graph. The highest swelling rate was due to Mg0.99Zn0.01O with the final rate of 44.15±1.98%. The TGA analysis showed that the total loss of MgO nanocomposite was larger than that of Mg0.99Zn0.01O and Mg0.97Zn0.03O.
