High-Stability Organic Transistors from Blend Semiconductors |

We have investigated phase-separation characteristics of spin-cast soluble acene/insulating polymer blends for the fabrication of transistors with high field-effect mobility and stability. We found that insulating polymer in soluble acene/insulating polymer blends prohibits dewetting of soluble acene and provides a platform for soluble acene molecules to segregate and crystallize at the air-film interface. At the low solvent evaporation rate, bilayer structure, which consists of highly ordered soluble acene crystals at the top and low-trap insulating polymer at the bottom, was fabricated by one-step spin-casting process. Integrating soluble acene/insulating polymer blend films into top-gate or bottom-gate transistors produces much higher field-effect mobility and stability than using homo soluble acene film. |
