1-D high quality single-crystalline triisopropylsilylethynyl pentacene (TIPS-PEN) microribbons were easily fabricated in solution phase and the electrical properties were studied by means of field-effect transistor (FET) structure to find charge transport mechanisms. Microribbon self-assembly of the TIPS-PEN molecule was conducted by using the solvent-exchange method in the solution phase, which transfers the molecule from a good solvent into a poor solvent where the molecule has limited solubility, and thus self-assembly occurs through π-π stacking. To measure the electrical properties with temperature gradient, FET device was put into a chamber whose outside was liquid nitrogen and inside kept up vacuum. We revealed a carrier mobility that increased as the temperature increased from 100K to 300K, indicating that thermally hopping transport is proper mechanism.
