We designed and synthesized a novel chemosensor of diaminomaleonitrile-substituted porphyrin(DAMNP) for the detection of Hg2+ ion by condensation reaction between porphyrin aldehydes and diaminomaleonitrile. Upon addition of Hg2+, the intensity of Soret-band decreased with red-shift in absorption spectrum which was accompanied by the color change from red to yellow, indicating the reaction DAMN and Hg2+. Meanwhile, the fluorescence intensity reduced with increasing amount of Hg2+, The detection limit reached as low as 1.12 x 10-8 M in THF solution. To probe the selectivity of DAMNP as a chemosensor for Hg2+ ion, we have investigated its interactions with other cations such as Na+, K+, Mg2+, Ca2+, Zn2+, Co2+, Cu2+, Pb2+, Ni2+, Al3+, and Cr3+ ions under identical experimental conditions. We report the colorimetric and fluorescence sensing behavior towards to Hg2+ ion. |
