Hyaluronic stabilized ultrafine theranostic photo nanoemulsions for simultaneous chemo and photo thermal therapy for metastatic breast cancer cells |

We synthesized ultrafine nanoemulsions (NEMSn) based on extra virgin olive oil stabilized with Hyaluronic acid encapsulating NIR-780 dye and doxorubicin(DOX) molecules (NIR-780/DOX NEMSn) to have controlled DOX release under photo thermal irradiation. The 55 nm sized NIR-780/DOX NEMSn were well localized in the 4T1 breast cancer cells and showed controlled intracellular DOX release on exposure to laser irradiation. The in vitro and in vivo studies clearly indicates that the superior heating ability of these NIR-780/DOX NEMSn over their respective control samples. The in vivo study on breast tumor model showed enhanced antitumor efficacy with NIR-780/DOX NEMSn than chemo and PTT alone. |
