Atom transfer radical reactions (ATRRs), including atom transfer radical coupling (ATRC) and atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP), are robust tools for the precise synthesis of homopolymers, block copolymers, star (co)polymers, polymer brushes, hyperbranched polymers, and so forth. Based on ATRRs, at first, we develop strategies via combinations of various polymerization mechanisms, including living radical polymerizations, living polycondensation, and radical coupling reaction to the synthesis of various block copolymers. We then demonstrate an efficient styrene-assisted ATRC approach and explore its effectiveness with the combination of biodegradable poly(ε-caprolactone). Thirdly, we proposed a facile strategy by manipulating the solubility difference of catalyst to obtain various polymer topologies. |
