제목 | 2D Siloxene supported bimetallic oxide as an efficient electrocatalyst for hydrogen evolution reaction |
초록 | Nowadays, the demand for hydrogen gas is growing rapidly as it can be utilized for petroleum refinement as well as amino acid production and can replace conventional fossil fuels. Hydrogen gas can be produced from water splitting with near-zero emission of toxic by-products. However, the process needs catalysts that can achieve high current density at low overpotential as well as have low production costs. Hence, finding an effective electrocatalyst for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) process through water electrolysis has become an essential requirement. Herein, we investigated the bimetallic oxide deposited on the siloxene substrate (NiO/Co3O4@Siloxene), as an electrocatalyst for HER. Silicon is the second most earth-abundant element and transitional metal oxides are relatively cheap hence the catalyst ensures less production cost. Furthermore, our results showed that this material had the overpotential of 110 mV at 10 mA/cm2 current density in 1M KOH electrolyte with stability over 20 h. Therefore, this material can be an efficient electrocatalyst in the future. Keywords — Siloxene, HER, water splitting, bimetallic oxide. |
