Reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization is a successful technique for synthesizing well-defined polymer architectures with low polydispersity. In this study, various RAFT agents having different substituents (R group) in dithiobenzoate RAFT agent [S=C(Ph)S-R] were employed in the living free-radical polymerization. The influence of R-group was investigated in terms of living nature of polymerization, molecular weight evolution and polydispersity. More specifically, the steric and radical stability factors were taken into account in determining the efficiency of RAFT agents. |
