Solution-processable polymer solar cells are expected as one of the most attractive solar cells in terms of low-cost fabrication as well as design flexibility. To date, a variety of electron-donating (p-type) polymers have been developed for bulk-heterojunction polymer/fullerene solar cells, which recently exhibited ~7% efficiency. For achieving the improved efficiency, the fullerene derivatives with increased carbon numbers played an important role. Hence, in this work, as a part of electron-accepting material research, we attempted to synthesize two similar electron-accepting compounds with different pendant groups and tried to fabricate corresponding polymer solar cells with them. The electrochemical and photophysical properties of two derivatives will be presented in detail together with the device performance. |
