The ∏–conjugated polymer materials, especially PPV derivatives and fluorene-based polymers, which can be used for the light-emitting diode (LED) and information displays, are considered as LED materials. Poly(p-phenylenevinylene) (PPV) derivatives including various substituents such as oxadiazole, fluorene, carbazole units in the main chain were synthesized , and their optical properties, working properties, and the construction of light-emitting devices were reviewed. The light-emitting properties of these polymers were studied by photoluminescence (PL), electroluminescence (EL), current-voltage characteristics, light intensity-current relationships, and quantum efficiencies. Carbazole and fluorene containing polymers in PPV main chain, and fully conjugated PPV derivatives which phenyl-silyl, cyclohexyl-silyl and cyanophenyl were substituted on phenylene ring were prepared. These polymers were completely soluble in common organic solvents and exhibited very good thermal stabilities up to 400 ℃. And they showed high PL quantum efficiencies as well as excellent device performance. Especially, the synthesis and light-emitting properties of new fluorene-based copolymers which show the emission colors from blue to red will be presented. In this presentation, synthetic route and light-emitting properties of organic single molecules also will be discussed. |
