The conjugated polymer is considered to have great potential as sensing materials, due to its flexibility, simple fabrication, and light weight. Especially, organic gas sensors based on field-effect transistors have attracted interest due to high resolution through the signal amplification. The main charge transport in organic transistor occurs in the vicinity of the interface between the semiconductor and gate dielectric, therefore controlling this interface characteristics offers an efficient approach to enhancing the current level and sensing properties. Herein, we produced a sensitive NO2 sensor based on an OFET by introducing various self-assembled monolayer as the gas-interactive modifier. SiO2 surfaces were modified by a set of 4 types of SAMs and the effect of surface characteristics on the gas sensor performances under various NO2 concentration levels. SAM having nitrogen permits strong interaction with the target gas molecule, thus showing high sensitivity to NO2. |
